The Beach
Cottage country in the city! The Boardwalk and sandy beaches. Beautiful parks and gardens. Lake Ontario at our doorstep. From its earliest days, people flocked to the Beach (or The Beaches as some people call us), making it one of Torontos favourite destinations. People still come for our parks and lakeside attractions, but theyre also drawn by our unique and eclectic stores and boutiques.
We have over 350 stores, shops and services along Queen Street East running from Lockwood (three blocks west of Woodbine) all the way over to Torontos Art Deco gem, the R.C. Harris Waterworks. When you want a great cup of coffee, a scrumptious pastry, one of the best homemade ice cream cones in town or mighty fine dining, you can find it in our plentiful assortment of sidewalk cafes, pubs and restaurants. Its no wonder that Queen Street East in the Beach was selected as Ontarios best small-town Main Street. The Beach offers all this and a year-long array of parades, concerts and events for young and old. One of Torontos favourite events, the Beaches International Jazz Festival held each July, showcases top calibre talent in a small-town friendly atmosphere. The Family Day Festival in February has become another popular event, and the Lions Easter Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting are old time faves which reinforce that small-town feel. Come experience The Beach, all year round. |
